Mrs. Marjorie G. Willis, age 82 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Sunday, April 7, 2013, at Capital Region Medical Center after an extensive battle with Crohn's disease. Marjorie was born February 27, 1931, in Decaturville, Mo., the daughter of the Reverend Everett B. and Maymee M. Shumate Grimes. She was married on October 28, 1956, at Greenfield, Mo. to James E. Willis. A life-long resident of the Central Missouri area, Marjorie graduated from Lebanon High School and attended Stephens College in Columbia, Mo. A homemaker, Marjorie had been employed as a bookkeeper at the Chrysler Dealership in Lebanon, Mo. After her children were grown, she was employed at Jefferson City Manor Nursing Home. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star, Victoria Chapter No. 14. Marjorie accepted Jesus as her Lord at the age of six at the Mt. Horeb Baptist Church. She loved to sing and was a beautiful soprano. She enjoyed attending church and never missed a service until ill health prevented her from attending. She loved her family and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She had a wonderful sense of humor and will be dearly missed. Survivors include: her husband of 56 years, James E. Willis; one daughter, Mary Ann Willis of Jefferson City, Mo.; one son, Jeffrey W. Willis and his wife Roberta of Carbondale, Illinois; one sister, Zelma Butler of Hermitage, Mo.; one brother, James Carl Grimes of Richland, Mo.; five grandchildren, Amber Willis, James Matthew Willis, Kelsey Willis, Jacob Willis, and Benjamin Willis; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Lawrence Grimes, Clon Grimes, Uel Grimes, Joel Grimes, Paul Grimes, and David Grimes, and two sisters, Evalena Jennings and Chlorine Davis. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013, with an Order of the Eastern Star Service to be conducted at 9:30 a.m. in the Freeman Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Lewis Curtis officiating. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery.
