James E. Felgar

James E. Felgar, 86, of Bunceton, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City. He was born October 20, 1926, in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, to Lester James and Mary Ruth Jaggard Felgar. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School. He served in the Air Force during WW II as an airplane mechanic. He was married to Elizabeth (Betty) Anderson on February 21, 1954, at Mediapolis, Iowa, who survives of the home. He farmed his entire life, starting in Iowa and moving to Cooper County in 1965, where he continued to farm. He was a member of the Cooper County Farm Bureau Board for many years, American Legion Post #304 in Tipton; was a DeKalb dealer and most recently a Merschman seed dealer. He was a Brock, Shivvers, and Sukup grain handling equipment dealer. He was co-owner of J. & J. Supply. He enjoyed traveling and taking cruises to Europe and Australia. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Anderson of the home; one son, Linn (Teri) Felgar of Bunceton; five daughters, Sarah (David) Kuschel of Bunceton, Rebecca Thompson of Jefferson City, Mary Felgar of Vandalia, Missouri, Susan (Mike) Gregory of Bunceton, and Florence (Charles) Jackson of Russellville; 14 grandchildren, Katie, Emily, Jon, Stephanie, Mandy, Melissa, Jamie, Courtney, Paul, Chris, Jason, Tyler, Cory and Cole; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Edd Felgar of Fairfield, Iowa; one sister, Charlotte Scott of Fairfield, Iowa; one nephew, John Scott of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother-in-law and one sister-in-law. Funeral services for Mr. Felgar will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 8, 2013, at the Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Tipton, with burial in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday evening, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Tipton. Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.
