Thomas Wayne McFarland, age 92, of Osage Beach, Missouri, passed away Friday, March 29, 2013, at Lakeside Meadows in Osage Beach, Missouri. The son of John Thomas McFarland and Lela S. Robbins McFarland, he was born May 31, 1920, in Livonia, Missouri. On March 9, 1940, he married V. Arlene Sumpter McFarland, who preceded him in death in November, 1999. Thomas attended Kirksville High School, and then served in the U.S. Army. He received his schooling in Electronics at De Forest Training, Inc., Chicago, Illinois. He received additional technical training at Zenith School in Chicago, Illinois. His hobbies consisted of any and everything in technology. He was a Ham Radio operator, loved to repair T.V.'s, Radios, and work on his computer. He loved being with his family and friends. Thomas was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church, Holts Summit, Missouri and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Thomas is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, John and Carole McFarland of Osage Beach, Missouri; one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and David Prather of Grand Terrace, California; four grandchildren, John McFarland, Christina Helms, Cynthia Bulger and Michelle Prather; seven great-grandchildren, Jacqueline Bulger, David Bulger, Annabelle Lawrence, Kody Helms, Luke Helms, T.J. Helms and Megan McFarland, as well as several nieces and nephews. Thomas was also preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Blanche Shearer; and one brother, Frank McFarland. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 5, 2013, at Union Hill Baptist Church, Holts Summit, Missouri, with Reverend Robert Shearer and Brother Frank Whitney officiating. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. at Parkview Memorial Cemetery in Kirksville, Missouri where Thomas will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Arlene.
