Nelma Hulda Scheperle, 89, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away on Monday, October 29, 2012, at Summit Villa, Holts Summit, Mo. She was born June 12, 1923, in Lohman, Mo., to Edward and Emma (Pohlmann) Linhardt, the seventh of ten children. She moved to Jefferson City and married Edgar E. Scheperle in 1948. Nelma soon was a busy mother of three young boys, and a daughter was born nine years later. She was a founding and active member of Faith Lutheran Church, where she participated many years in the Dorcas Society quilting circle and the production of Braille books. She also sang in the choir for years in the 1960s and 1970s. She blessed many people with dozens of handmade quilts. She worked in the fabric department of TG&Y and later Kmart. Nelma was quick to laugh at herself and loved a good joke. She kept a beautiful garden and enjoyed talking on the porch with neighbors. Her home was always open to friends, children, grandchildren and her large extended family. She is survived by her sister, Jerene Lohmeyer of Washington, Mo; her brother, Robert Linhardt of Jefferson City, Mo; four children and 12 grandchildren: Joseph Scheperle and his wife Candice (Jason, Leisu Kirby, Michelle) of Kent, Wash., Melvin Scheperle and wife Susan (Lindsay Wigsmoen, Samantha, Dana) of Bradley, Ill.; Darrel Scheperle and wife Margaret (Marie, Angela, Nathan, Daniel) of Ozark, Mo; Sally Hunger (Heather, Chelsi) of Jefferson City, Mo; and four great-grandchildren: Emilee Harmon, Reece Kirby, Devin Kirby and Jamison Ward. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edgar, three brothers and four sisters. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 1, 2012, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 2, 2012, at Faith Lutheran Church with Rev. Tony Alter officiating. Interment will follow in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
