Bernard J. "Jr" Johnson, age 82, of Camdenton, Missouri, and formerly of Fairfield, died Friday, October 26, 2012, at Springfield, Missouri. Jr was born May 17, 1930, at Shenandoah, Iowa, the son of Bernard Joseph and Effie (Martin) Johnson. He grew up in Corning and graduated from Corning High School. He married Barbara Lee Means on May 1, 1950, at Corning. They lived in Corning, Shenandoah and Ottumwa before moving to Fairfield in 1964. Jr managed Thermogas in Fairfield until his retirement in 1990, when they moved to the Lake of the Ozarks.. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1952 until 1954. He was a member of the Elks Club and the Walton Club in Fairfield. He was preceded in death by his wife on February 3, 1992, his parents and an infant sister. Surviving are his two sons: Jerry and wife Ann Johnson of Nixa, Missouri and Jimmy and wife Amy Johnson of Fairfield; three grandchildren and his brother, Gary Johnson of Red Oak, Iowa. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 1, 2012, at the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield with Pastor Nate Nims officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield with Military honors. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to the American Cancer Association. Arrangements are in the care of the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.
