Jason K. Woods, age 40, of Jefferson City, Missouri, formerly of Blackwell, Missouri, departed this life on Monday, October 15, 2012. He was born on Friday, November 19, 1971 in Farmington, Missouri. Jason was united in marriage to Stephanie Gilbert at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Old Mines, Missouri, and was blessed with two sons. SMSgt Jason K. Woods enlisted in the active duty Air Force in 1992 as a Satellite Communications technician, and was assigned to Sembach AB, Germany, Tinker AFB, Oklanhoma, and Keesler AFB, Mississippi. While on active duty, SMSgt Woods deployed overseas in support of military operations to Denmark, Germany, and Colombia. In 2001, SMSgt Woods enlisted in the 239th Combat Communications Squadron of the Missouri Air National Guard as a Satellite Communications Craftsman. He was deployed to the United Arab of Emirates for Operation Enduring Freedom. He most recently served as the Quality Assurance program manager for the 239th, providing training support to the entire squadron. SMSgt Woods has received many awards and decorations throughout his career to including the Campaign Service Award, Global War on Terrorism Service and Expeditionary medals, Air Force NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, NATO Service Medal, Air Force overseas short and long tour ribbons, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Air Force Expeditionary Medal, and the Small Arms Expert Ribbon. Jason earned a Master's Degree of Physical Therapy from the University of Missouri in 2004. He was the supervisor for outpatient therapy at Capital Region Medical Center, Jefferson City, before becoming the Director of Operations for Reliant Care Rehab. He was also a partner in Outbound Rehab and Wellness. Jason served as a member on the Advisory Board of the Linn State Technical College Physical Therapist Assistant Program; he held the positions of Nominating Committee Chair and was a current member of the board of directors for the Missouri Physical Therapy Association. He was a member of the American Physical Therapy Association. He was a parishioner of St. Peter Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Helias Council Number 1054 of Jefferson City, Missouri. He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, fishing, hunting, and coaching baseball and football for Jefferson City Parks and Recreation. Jason is survived by his loving wife, Stephanie Woods of Jefferson City, Missouri; two sons, Ethan Kyle Woods and Lucas James Woods of Jefferson City, Missouri; mother and father, Vickie and Eric Peterson of Blackwell, Missouri; one sister, Erica Gregory and husband Mike of Union, Missouri; grandparents, Helen Bobbett of Potosi, Missouri, Austin Bailey of Potosi, Missouri, Charles Perry Parmley of Potosi, Missouri, Margaret Peterson of Blackwell, Missouri, Gene and Mary Lou Woods of Mineral Point, Missouri; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Susan and Ken Thebeau of Old Mines, Missouri; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Jason was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Gene Woods; grandparents, Shirley Ann Davis, James C. Davis; and great-grandparents, Clyde and Ida Rolens. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, October 19, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joachim Catholic Church, Old Mines, Missouri, with Father Ted Pieper officiating. Final Prayers and Burial will take place in the St. Joachim Catholic Cemetery, Old Mines, Missouri. Services were entrusted to the care and direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
