Joseph W. Cottom, age 35 years, of Hartsburg, Mo., died Monday, November 12, 2012. Joe was born November 7, 1977, in Springfield, Mo., the son of William V. and Mary Roam Cottom. A resident of Waynesville and the Jefferson City area, Joe was a 1996 graduate of Jefferson City High School where he played on the Jay Football Team. He attended Linn State Technical College. Joe was employed with Miller Erectors, Inc. in New Bloomfield, Mo. and had also been a carpenter in the construction industry. He enjoyed playing the guitar, but most importantly, spending time with friends and family. Survivors include: his parents, Bill and Mary Cottom of Hartsburg, Mo.; his daughter, Alexis JoAnn; one sister, Julie Cluver and her husband Jonathan of Columbia, Mo.; two nephews, Joel and William Cluver; and numerous aunts, uncles, great aunts, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Joe and Edith Roam, and his paternal grandparents, William and Leticia Cottom. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 15, 2012. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 15, 2012, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Dr. Monte Shinkle officiating.
