Joseph Clifford Bacon

Joseph Clifford Bacon, 77, of Jefferson City, died Sunday, November 11, 2012, at St. Joseph Bluffs, Jefferson City. He was born on September 24, 1935, in Osage County near Linn, Mo., the son of the late Samuel Sheppard and Edith Ida Fisher Bacon. He was married on April 4, 1959, in St. Louis County to Marilyn Ann Worley, who survives at the home. Mr. Bacon was a 1953 graduate of Linn High School, attended the University of Missouri, graduated in 1972 from Northwestern University Traffic Institute, and received the Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia College in 1975. He was employed with the Missouri State Highway Patrol as a Driver Examiner from 1957 to 1960; and commissioned as a Highway Patrolman in 1960, serving at Kirksville, Unionville, and Canton. In 1971 he was enrolled in the Northwestern University Traffic Institute Long Course. He was assigned to General Headquarters in 1972 and retired in 1991 as a Sergeant after 34 years with the Patrol. He retired in 1995 as a Chief Warrant Officer 4 CID Unit from the Missouri Army National Guard. Mr. Bacon was a member of First United Methodist Church and its Harmony Sunday School Class. He was a member of the Missouri Association of State Troopers Emergency Relief Society ("THE MASTERS"); MU Tigers Quarterback Club; Association of Retired Missouri State Employees; Northwestern Traffic Institute Alumni Association; and Learning in Retirement, Inc. He was a member of Linn Lodge No. 326, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons. Other survivors include two daughters, Patricia Ann Bacon and Lisa Lee Bacon, both of Jefferson City; and one sister, Nellie Orlies Lytton, Independence, Mo. He was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Bacon; and three sisters, Marceline Patterson, Mary White, and Helen Barbarick. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2012, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with the Rev. Daniel Hilty and Chaplain Jim Mueller officiating. Entombment will be in Riverview Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be 9:30-11 a.m. on Saturday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.
