Hazel L. Potts, 82, of Eldon, died Sunday, November 11, 2012, at the Eldon Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born June 12, 1930, in Eldon, Mo., daughter of Noble and Pearl Upton, who have preceded her in death. She was married in Kansas City, Mo. on March 12, 1960, to Nollie Potts, who preceded her in death. In 1975, Hazel returned to Eldon following the death of her spouse to be closer to family. After a brief period as a student at the Tri-County Technical School, she began her 27-year career working for the Eldon School District. Hazel first served as secretary to the Director of the Tri-County Technical School and finished her career as the secretary to the Superintendent of Schools. Hazel was a faithful member of the Aurora Springs Baptist Church. Surviving her are: daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Edward Hodge of Broken Arrow, Okla.; daughter, Rachel Potts of Eldon, Mo.; grandson and granddaughter, Christopher and Elizabeth Hodge of Broken Arrow, Okla.; sister and brother-in-law, Rose Marie and Mac Shroyer of Port Hueneme, Calif.; sister and brother-in-law, Ruby Fay and Olin Parks of Windsor, Mo.; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Nancy Upton of Eldon, Mo.; brother and sister-in-law, Sam and Marlyn Upton of Eminence, Mo.; several nieces and nephews Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday November 14, 2012, at Phillips Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday November 15, 2012, at Aurora Springs Baptist Church with Pastor John Dearing and Rev. Samuel Upton officiating. Burial will be in the Eldon Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon, Mo.
