Mrs. Virginia C. Bowman, age 86 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Monday, October 29, 2012, at her home. Virginia was born on July 11, 1926, in Freeburg, Missouri, a daughter of Tom and Mary "Marie" Wyrick Russell. She was married on September 5, 1953, in Harrison, Arkansas to William O. "Bill" Bowman, who preceded her in death on December 8, 2001. A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Virginia was a homemaker for the majority of her life. She loved taking care of her children and grandchildren. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include: three daughters, Margaret "Scharley" Weinzettel of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Deborah "Cathi" Freet and her husband Edward of Holts Summit, Mo., and Marsha Muir of Jefferson City, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Shane Wickers, Amber Figard, Eddie Freet, Ashley Freet, Christy Hougland, B.J. Ulmer, A.J. Weinzettel, Brandi Dreggers, and Keith Dreggers; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; one son, Donald K. Dreggers Jr. on November 1, 2001; four sisters; and two brothers. Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 3, 2012. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 3, 2012, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Dr. Doyle Sager officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at Riverview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Virginia Bowman Memorial Fund.
