Richard J. Muenks, age 65, of Loose Creek, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2012, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. Richard was born June 18, 1946, in Jefferson City, a son of the late Vincent W. and Margaret L. (Kirsch) Muenks. Richard was a 1964 graduate of Fatima High School. On July 31, 1971, Richard was united in marriage to Angie J. Backes at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek. She survives of the home. Until his retirement, Richard worked as a Recreation Officer at the Jefferson City Correctional Center. After retiring, he worked part time at Herbert Backes Poultry in Loose Creek. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and a former member of the Loose Creek Community Club and Knights of Columbus. Richard served as a Little League Coach, played softball, enjoyed horseshoe tournaments, hunting, fishing, and was a member of the Preference League at "The Coop". He loved spending time with his family. In addition to his wife, Angie, Richard is survived by: three sons, Shawn and his wife, April Muenks, of Taos, Steve and his wife, Kathy Muenks, of Bonnots Mill, and Kenny Muenks of Bonnots Mill and his fiancÈe Amy Jones of Belle; four brothers, Charles and his wife, Patricia Muenks, of St. Louis, Theodore and his wife, Joyce Muenks, of Bonnots Mill, Larry and his wife, Rita Muenks, of Bonnots Mill, and Gary and his wife, Elizabeth Muenks, of Linn; two sisters, Mary and her husband, Marty Brandt, of Linn, and Shirley and her husband, Ted Hasenbeck, of Linn; two grandchildren, Drew and Kaylee Muenks; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by one son, Matthew Muenks; and one brother, Nicholas Muenks. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, at Morton Chapel in Linn. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Fr. Don Antweiler as the Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Parish Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Immaculate Conception Church or Immaculate Conception School.
