Homer "Jay" Quinn, age 84, of Eldon, died Friday, January 6, 2012, at Eldon Nursing and Rehab. He was born in Bagnell, on April 14, 1927, a son of the late Homer Jackson and Roxey (DeVore) Quinn. On June 10, 1961, in Jefferson City, he was married to Dixie Hadley, who survives at the home. Jay graduated high school from School of the Osage where he was known for his outstanding basketball skills. He owned and operated Marberry Quinn Insurance Agency in Lake Ozark and pastored Mt. Herman Baptist Church, Greenridge Baptist Church and Bagnell Baptist Church. He was interim pastor for Sunrise Beach First Baptist Church and Ulman Baptist Church. He was also a supply pastor for numerous churches in the Miller County and Lamine Baptist Associations. He was formerly on the board of the Missouri Baptist Children's Home and was a member of Eldon First Baptist Church. Jay enjoyed studying the Bible and watching his grandson grow up. Others who survive him include: two daughters, Cathy Kolb and husband Larry of Jefferson City and Michelle "Chellie" Musick and husband Jason of Eldon; one grandson, Braden Atkinson; one sister, Freda Strange of Eldon; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jay was preceded in death by his first wife, Lorraine Quinn in 1960. His two grandchildren, Travis and Tracy Bryant, and sister, Betty Schuchmann, also preceded him in death. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 9, at Eldon First Baptist Church. Bro. David White will officiate. Interment will be in Eldon City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, January 8, at Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Riley-Lamm Cemetery or First Baptist Church Piano Fund.
