Regina Mary Verslues, 84, of Taos, died Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at St. Mary's Health Center. She was born on November 3, 1927, in Westphalia, the daughter of the late Charles Franzis and Theresa Maria Borgmeyer Berhorst. She was united in marriage on January 16, 1949, in Westphalia, to Albert Henry Verslues who preceded her in death on November 2, 2008. In her earlier years, Regina worked for International Shoe Company. After her marriage to Albert she was a homemaker caring for their 10 children. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Taos. Regina enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, and birds. Her greatest love was her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include: three daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Larry Winegar, Jefferson City; Sandy and Felix Reinkemeyer, Taos; Julie and Ken "Butch" Twehous, Loose Creek; six sons and daughters-in-law, Ron Verslues, Taos; Jerry and Judy Verslues, Jefferson City; Daniel and Marilyn Verslues, Taos; Dale and Emilie Verslues, Taos; Wayne and Brenda Verslues, Taos; Kevin and Carol Verslues, New Bloomfield; daughter-in-law, Janet Verslues, Taos; 26 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 6 step-great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Angeline Berhorst and Annie Berhorst, both of Westphalia. She was also preceded in death by a son, Charles Verslues; a grandson, Chuck Verslues; two sisters, Mary Wieberg and Anna Rustemeyer; and two brothers, Alfred Berhorst and Bill Berhorst. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, February. 11, 2012, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Taos, with the Rev. J. David Maher officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:30-8 p.m. Friday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with a prayer service at 3 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church Building Fund, 7314 Route M, Jefferson City, MO 65101; St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or Samaritan Center, 1310 E.
