Hugh A. Baysinger, 73, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2012, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, where he was active in Boy Scouts and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from Paseo High School in 1956, where he ran in track and field. During his Senior year of high school, he was elected Student Mayor of Kansas City. He graduated with Honors from Yale University in 1960, with a B.E. in Civil Engineering. He achieved his Masters Degree in Civil Engineering in 1961. During his time at Yale, he was a member of Tau Beta Phi, Chi Epsilon, the Yale Glee Club, and the Duke's Men. He was accepted to the University of Oklahoma Law School where he graduated with a Juris Doctorate in 1966. During his Law School career, he taught Engineering at OU. He practiced law with Pierce, Couch, Hendrickson, Baysinger & Green since 1966 until his death. He was a partner since 1974. He was a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association, the Oklahoma County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Oklahoma Association of Defense Council (Past President 1983 - 1984), the International Association of Defense Council, the Defense Research Institute, Inc., American Arbitration Association, and the Arbitrator (Commercial and Construction panels). During his successful law career, he enjoyed speaking as a guest lecturer for his peers and as a mentor for both younger attorneys and high school students. He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, where he enjoyed many years as a member of the church choir. He enjoyed music and had a great passion for singing, and he was a member of the Oklahoma Master Chorale. The things he loved most in life were family, music, law, and food. He is survived by his best friend and beloved wife, Nancy Wheat Baysinger; his children: Aimee Baysinger and fiance Gary Audette, Jenny Baysinger Beasley and husband Scott Beasley, Melody English, Richard English and Deini English; his grandchildren Grayson, Miles, and Ashlyn English; sisters Kathie Altman and Marty Gardner; nephews and nieces David Gardner, Kristyn Gonzales and husband Anthony Gonzales, Allison Day and husband Brian Day, and Kurt Altman; and grand nephews and nieces Jasper, Hannah, Ira, Grace, and Jason. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles E. Baysinger; mother, Ethel Bundy Baysinger; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Altman. The family requests that any donations be sent to Village United Methodist Church, Music Department. Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 4, 2012, at the Village United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City.
