Shirley Ann Renken, 75, of Peoria, Ill., formerly of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Saturday, December 22, 2012, in the emergency room at Proctor Hospital in Peoria. Shirley was born Nov. 19, 1937, in Lohman, Mo., to Freida (Koestner) and Theodore Linsenbardt. She married Timothy B. Renken on June 2, 1961, in Lohman, Mo., who survives. Shirley was Miss Jefferson City 1959. Shirley worked for many years as a medical assistant in St. Louis County, where she lived for 40 years before moving to Peoria. She and Tim had a small antiques business which brought them many happy hours as they restored treasures they found at estate sales and on their cross-country travels. Shirley was a meticulous housekeeper and an excellent cook, but she was never happier than when she was out in her garden, which will live on to remind us of to all the beauty she brought to this world. Also surviving are her children, Timothy D. Renken of Minneapolis, Minn., and Leslie Renken (Bradley Roberts), of Peoria, Ill.; and two sisters, Marvelia Mueller of Jefferson City, Mo., and Lorraine Moore of Lake City, S.C. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Armand Linsenbardt. Services will be at a later date. Wright and Salmon Funeral Home in Peoria, Ill. is handling arrangements. Tributes and condolences may be submitted to www.wrightandsalmon.com.
