Anna Marie "Annie" Schmutzler, 87, of Jefferson City, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2012, at Heisinger Bluffs. She was born April 27, 1925, in Osage City, Missouri, the daughter of the late John A. and Elizabeth (Dippold) Schmutzler. Anna Marie was employed with the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a lab technician for 32 years. She was also Assistant Activity Director at Heisinger Bluffs for 23 years. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She loved to volunteer as Assistant Activity Director of Residential Care at Heisinger Bluffs, gardening, reading, loved devoting her life to church work and working with residents, and enjoyed spending time with her family. Survivors include two sisters: Lois Gerschefske and husband Arnold of Linn, and Emily Niebruegge of Bunceton; one sister-in-law: Leona Schmutzler; several beloved nieces and nephews; and dear friend Jerry Engelby. She was preceded in death by one sister: Margaret Schmutzler; two brothers: Clarence Schmutzler and Adolph Schmutzler; and one brother-in-law: Hillard Niebruegge. Friends will be received from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2012, at St. John's Lutheran Church at Schubert, where a Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend Gerald Scheperle officiating. Private family interment will be held in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church at Schubert or Heisinger Bluffs in Jefferson City.
