Robert George Sachse

Robert George "Bob" Sachse, 83, of Jefferson City, died Thursday, December 20, 2012, at St. Mary's Health Center. He was born March 18, 1929, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, a son of Paul and Frieda Hertha (Schneider) Sachse. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953 and attaining the rank of Corporal. On August 21, 1954, Bob was united in marriage to Margaret Lieneke, who survives at their home. Bob worked as a dental technician for many years until his retirement. Following retirement, he worked for Sears for several years. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, American Legion Post 5 and the Capital City Square Dance Club. Bob enjoyed gardening, golfing, feeding and watching birds and square dancing. He had served as a park board baseball coach for several years and was a big fan of Helias wrestling and other high school sports, especially those involving his grandchildren. He enjoyed making sure the umpires and referees were kept honest. Other survivors include five children: Lisa Guier and husband Kelly of Blue Springs, Jennifer Sachse and husband, Dr. Mike Abels, of St. Louis, Carol Dickerson and husband Ronn of Marshall, Rob Sachse and wife Tammy of Taos, Sara Reid and husband Dr. Bryan Reid of Edwardsville, Illinois; 14 grandchildren: Valerie Bailes, Vanessa Johnson, Kevin Guier, Jacky Guier, Mary Guier, Robert Abels, Michael Abels, Craig Dickerson, Leslie Dykstra, Adam Dickerson, Austin Sachse, Nolan Sachse, Matthew Reid, Evan Reid; and 10 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Roland and Leroy Sachse; and one sister, Elaine Kaesermann. Friends will be received from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be at 2:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 24, 2012, at St. Peter Catholic Church with Fr. Anthony J. Viviano officiating. Entombment with full military honors will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Peter Catholic Church, Helias Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice.
