Lorene Scott, age 97, of Jefferson City, formerly of Meta, passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2012, at Summit Villa Lifecare in Holts Summit. She was born in Meta on December 2, 1915, daughter of the late Robert Perry and Stella Leona Barnhart. On October 10, 1936, in Jefferson City, Lorene married Clay Scott, who preceded her in death on April 22, 2005. Lorene and her husband, Clay, owned and operated the Cla-Lar Ranch, in the Meta and St. Thomas area. She also worked for the State of Missouri, Department of Revenue, Secretary of State, and the Department of Agriculture. She was a volunteer at Capital Region Medical Center for 18 years. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Jefferson City and Ricker Memorial Church in Van Cleve. She is survived by one daughter-in-law, Agnes Scott of Holts Summit; one grandson, Jeffrey Clay Scott and wife Theresa of Belize, South America; three great-grandchildren, Oscar Boots Scott, Sal Marie Scott, and Waylon Clay Scott; one sister-in-law, Claudine Champlain of Meta; two nieces, Colleen Petty and husband Caleb and Peggy Eads and husband Dennis; one nephew, Dallas Rollins; her Summit Villa family and other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by one son, Gary Clay Scott; one brother, Leonard Barnhart; and one sister, Lola Rollins. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., with services immediately following at 11 a.m., on Saturday, December 15, 2012, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Meta. Bro. Bob Hamm and Bro. Manuel Seaton will officiate. A private family graveside service will be in Southside Cemetery in Meta.
