Arthur Lee Cary

Arthur Lee Cary, 91, of California, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2012, at his residence. He was born September 9, 1920, at Speed, the son of Henry and Minnie Mae (Woodard) Cary, both of whom preceded him in death. He was united in marriage on December 8, 1950, at California, to Mary (Duvall) Bolin, who preceded him in death. Mr. Cary was a U.S. World War II Army veteran, serving with the 29th Engineers in the Pacific. He had worked construction but was a lifelong farmer. He also loved being outdoors, hunting and fishing. Survivors include: four sons, Dean Bolin and wife Billie, Blue Springs; Charlie Cary, California; Joby Cary and wife Fern, Amarillo, Texas; and Glen Cary and wife Becky, California; two daughters, Karen Strickfaden, California and Barbara Taggart and husband Bill, California; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: son-in-law, Larry Strickfaden; one brother, Eugene Cary; and one sister, Mary Ann Dietz. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California. Burial with full military honors will be in California City Cemetery. Officiating will be Mr. Jack Bowlin. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
