Leo F. Hurley, 81, of Holts Summit, died Sunday, August 19, 2012, at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born August 14, 1931, in Jefferson City, a son of the late Charles E. and Zella M. (Jarrett) Hurley. He was a 1950 graduate of New Bloomfield High School. On May 12, 1951, Leo was united in marriage in Harrison, Arkansas, to Shirley M. Goff, who preceded him in death on September 30, 2010. Leo served in the United States Army from 1949 to 1952, serving in Germany and attaining the rank of Corporal. He was a plumber and pipefitter for Local Union 562 for 43 years until his retirement. He was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church. Leo was a member of Masonic Lodge AF & AM 60 in New Bloomfield and received his 32nd Degree Scottish Rite at the Valley of Columbia. In 2012, Leo was honored and recognized for being a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge. He is survived by three children: Leo Steven Hurley and partner William Lafal of Lee's Summit, Kevin R. Hurley and wife Lisa of Holts Summit, Sandra L. Carr and husband Bobby of Fulton; two sisters: Bettie Roberts of Memphis, Tennessee, Virginia Autenrieth of Fulton; 10 grandchildren, seven great- grandchildren, one step-grandson and one step-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by one son, James D. Hurley, on May 12, 1993. Friends will be received from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 23, 2012, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home with Pastor E. Frank Whitney and Pastor L.P. Cook III officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Spina Bifida Association.
