Kevin R. Meinhardt

Mr. Kevin R. Meinhardt, age 53 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Sunday, August 19, 2012, at St. Mary's Health Center. He was born on December 8, 1958, in Jefferson City, Mo., the son of Kenneth and Nellie Mae Holladay Meinhardt. He was married on March 20, 1983, in Jefferson City, Mo., to Cindy K. Burd. A lifelong resident of Jefferson City, Kevin was a 1977 graduate of Jefferson City High School and a 1982 graduate of Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kan., with a degree in architecture. He was employed with the Missouri Office of Administration as an architect for 21 years. Since 2006, he was employed as an architect with the University of Missouri at Columbia. Kevin was a registered architect with the State of Missouri. He was a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and a member and past board member of the Missouri Institute of Architects. He was a member of the Mid-Missouri Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, served as a board member from 1989 until 1993, as secretary-treasurer from 1990 until 1991, and president from 1992 until 1993. He served on the Jefferson City Historical Preservation Committee from 1990 until 1998 and was currently chairman of the Jefferson City Board of Adjustments. He was a past member of the Construction Specifications Institute, a past member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and a past member of the Missouri Public Works Assn. Kevin was an avid sports fan and mainly rooted for Kansas State University basketball and football, Mizzou football and basketball (except when they were playing Kansas State), Jefferson City Jay football, St. Louis Blues hockey, and St. Louis Cardinal baseball. He always enjoyed scuba diving, woodworking, and working in the yard but his favorite hobby was reliving his childhood adventures at the lake while working on his lake cabin that his dad built. Most importantly, he always loved spending time with his family, especially with his black Lab, Ruby, by his side. Survivors include: his wife of 29 years, Cindy Meinhardt; one daughter, Molly R. Hoskins and her husband Andrew of Kansas City, Mo.; one grandson, Nash Hoskins; his mother, Nellie Meinhardt of Jefferson City, Mo.; two brothers, Ken Meinhardt and his wife Lina of Overland Park, Kan. and Bob Meinhardt of Holts Summit, Mo.; three nephews, Jeremy Meinhardt and his wife Megan of Bartlett, Ill., Shawn Meinhardt of Jefferson City, Mo., and Ryan Meinhardt and his wife Skylar of the state of California; one niece, Shelly Walz and husband Steve of Tampa, Fla.; and one aunt, Nina Bramon and her husband Gerald of Columbia, Mo. He was preceded in death by his father. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 22, 2012. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Concord Baptist Church with the Reverend Monte Shinkle officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Kevin Meinhardt Memorial Fund.
