Charlotte Mary (Prilliman) Meek, age 68, of Protection, Kan., passed away, Saturday, April 21, 2012, at Comanche County Hospital in Coldwater, Kan. She was born March 10, 1944, in what was a boarding house at the corner of Jefferson and Pine in Protection, Kan., to Claude "Bud" Prilliman and Grace A. Carson. She attended school in Protection until 1955, when she, her mother and brother moved to Hutchinson, Kan. She graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1962. Her first job was at the courthouse in Hutchinson, then on to the office at Betts Baking, and finally, R.L. Polk and Company as supervisor of the Ad Department. While working at Polk, she met Charles L. Meek and was married on February 12, 1971. Charles was transferred to Tulsa in 1974. After two years of being a stay at home wife, she went to work and worked as supervisor of the typography department for AdverType, which became ColorGraphics. She was offered and took the job as supervisor of the publishing division of Purolater Products in Tulsa. In 1994, Chuck accepted a job as executive chef at the Country Club in Winfield, Kan. She once again became a stay at home wife. At the end of 1995, Chuck took a position as executive chef at a country club in Columbia, Mo., and she, being tired of staying home, went to work at the Secretary of State Office, Jefferson City, Mo., in the Publications Division and retired from there in 2007. In 2010, after the death of her sister, she asked her husband if she could go home to Protection, Kan. He agreed and in November 2010, they moved to Protection. She now leaves the one love of her life, her husband Chuck, to continue on there. She was the youngest of five children, and is preceded in death by her parents: Claude "Bud" and Grace; her brothers: Claude Jr. "Buddy" Prilliman, Ronald Ray Prilliman, and Ted Darrell Prilliman; and her only sister: Patricia Louise (Prilliman) Stubinger. She is survived in addition by 29 nieces and nephews, 44 great-nieces and nephews, 21 great-great-nieces and nephews, and many cousins and friends. It has been a great adventure and she is now ready to move on to the next one. Funeral service is at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at the First Christian Church in Protection, Kan., with Pastor Brandon Hagins presiding. Burial will follow in Protection Cemetery in Protection, Kan. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, Kan.
