Mr. Richard H. Braun, age 85 years, of Osage Bend, Mo., passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at the Harry S. Truman Veterans' Hospital. Richard was born on December 30, 1926, in Folk, Mo., a son of Ernest and Antoinette "Nettie" Cassmeyer Braun. He was married on April 7, 1951, in Linn, Mo. to Betty A. Moeller, who preceded him in death on August 5, 2010. He served in the United States Army during World War II, being honorably discharged in 1946. A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Richard was a lifelong farmer and self-employed as a farmer to market milk route driver for many years. He was later employed as a mechanic with Rustmeyer Brothers, Markway's Service Station and Excavating, and for 17 years with Westinghouse until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church in Osage Bend, Mo. and the American Legion, Roscoe Enloe Post 5. Richard enjoyed dancing, playing cards, fishing, camping, traveling, and bluegrass festivals. He was known for his woodworking abilities and starting Braun's Country Crafts. Most importantly, he loved spending time with family and friends. He will be dearly missed. Survivors include: seven children, Carol (Bob) Bueche of Tucson, Arizona, Linda (Mike) Lewis of Osage Bend, Fred (Diane) Braun of Jefferson City, Harry Braun of Jefferson City, Kathleen "Kate" (Darin) Lackman of Jefferson City, DeWayne (YuWanda) Braun of Jefferson City, and James Braun (Kathy Cremer) of Jefferson City; one brother, Paul (Pauline) Braun of Wardsville; one sister, Ann Lairmore of Osage Bend; 11 grandchildren, Chris (Sherry) Lewis, Bryan (Renee) Braun, Scott Lewis, Jessica (Cole) Schaefer, Sarah Bueche, Brittani (Jeremy) Davison, Brandon Cline, Zachary Cline, Shae Lackman, Clevon Watkins and Tai Hayes; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty Braun; one son, Larry Paul Braun; and two infant sisters, Carol and Janet Braun. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 6, 2012, with a prayer service to be conducted at 3:30 p.m. in the Freeman Chapel. Visitation will also be at St. Margaret Catholic Church from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. Saturday. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2012, at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Osage Bend, Mo. with Deacon Robert Smerek officiating. Graveside services and interment with military honors will be held at St. Margaret Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Legion, Roscoe Enloe Post 5.
