Lester Dutcher (Veteran)

Lester Dutcher, 88, of California, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2011, at California Care Center. He was born April 16, 1923, in High Point, the son of Horace and Irene (Stevens) Dutcher, both of whom preceded him in death. He was married September 23, 1946, in Jefferson City, to Norma Jean Hays, who survives of the home. He proudly served his country in the United States Army in World War II. He worked as a produce manager, first for Kroger from 1950-1976, later working for Price Chopper. He was a member of High Point Baptist Church. He enjoyed watching the Kansas City Athletics and St. Louis Cardinal baseball, and California High School girls basketball. He is survived by one son, Larry Lee Dutcher and wife Barb of Orlando, Fla.; two daughters, Linda Martin and husband Ed of California and Lynnette Bowles and husband Rusty of Kansas City; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 16, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California. Burial with full military honors will be in High Point Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Don Almond. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 15, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association, c/o Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, 100 S. Oak, California, MO 65018. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California.
