Albert Schwartze (Veteran)

Albert Stephen Schwartze, 85, of Vienna, formerly of Argyle, departed this life Sunday, September 11, 2011, in the Capital Region Medical Center, Jefferson City. He was born on December 18, 1925, near Argyle, a son of Stephan and Margaret M. (Boeckmann) Schwartze. Mr. Schwartze was united in marriage on September 25, 1954, at Argyle, to the former Miss Ermalinda Wilhelmina Hilke, and to this union, three children were born. Mr. Schwartze was a World War II veteran of the United States Army, having served overseas in Ardennes in the Black Forest and took part in the Battle of the Bulge and in later years he traveled to Washington D.C. with the Honors Flight. Mr. Schwartze was a member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Argyle; the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post No. 8045, Argyle; a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council No. 2047, Argyle; a member and past president of the MFA Board, Argyle. He was a lifelong farmer and cattleman. He was preceded in death by his father on May 15, 1957; his mother on February 24, 1969; three brothers, August Schwartze on May 8, 2009; Frank J. Schwartze on January 27, 1997; and Bernard Schwartze on November 14, 1928, at the age of 8 years; six sisters, Mary Koehne on February 26, 2001; Christine Renneke on May 31, 2008; Teresa Schwartze on July 24, 1978; Frances Mary Steinman on April 2, 1993; Sophie Schepker in December of 2010; and Emma Hagen on June 12, 1998. Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Schwartze include: his wife, Ermalinda W. Schwartze, of the home in Vienna; one son, Roger A. Schwartze, Jefferson City; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth A. and Timothy Barnhart, Vienna and Sarah J. and Thomas Renick, Jefferson City; two sisters, Rita Maasen, Linn and Catherine Schwartze, St. Louis; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a fifth anticipated in October of 2011; and many other relatives and friends. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mr. Schwartze at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, September 16, 2011, in the St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Argyle, with the Rev. Msgr. Marion J. Makarewicz celebrating. Interment will be in the St. Aloysius Cemetery, Argyle. Visitation for Mr. Schwartze will be from 5 - 8 p.m., Thursday, September 15, 2011, with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. followed by a Knights of Columbus Rosary and a VFW Memorial Service and visitation from 10 - 11 a.m., Friday, September 16, 2011, all in the St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Spiritual offerings to be applied for Masses or memorial contributions to the St. Aloysius Catholic Church Memorial Fund with envelopes available at the Church or the Vienna Office of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.
