Imogene Hargrove

Imogene Gail Hargrove, age 93, of Jefferson City, passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2011. She was born in Carter County on October 9, 1918, to the late Milford and Gail Johnson. On September 29, 1945, she married Rev. Billy T. Hargrove, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Hargrove was a devout Christian woman. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jefferson City where she formerly taught Sunday school for many years. She volunteered her time helping families by working with the church food pantry and clothing distribution ministry. She also enjoyed teaching English as a secondary language. She will be greatly missed by her surviving family which includes two daughters, Karen Smith and husband Richard, of Rolla, and Teresa Blanchard and husband Jerry, of Marietta, Ga.; one sister, Janetta Newsom, of O'Fallon, Ill.; three grandchildren, Amy Vanessa Maus, Melanie Morris, and Jonathan Blanchard; one great-granddaughter, Grace Ann Maus; other extended family members and dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Vivian Gail McCaughn, and her brother, J.D. Johnson. A funeral service for Imogene Hargrove will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, October 17, 2011, at the New Hope Church near Ellsinore. Interment will follow in the New Hope Cemetery.
