Mr. Robert L. Wadley, age 86 years, of Holts Summit, Mo., passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2011, at Fulton Nursing and Rehabilitation Home in Fulton, Mo. Robert was born on August 21, 1925, in Jefferson City, Mo., to Robert W. and Leona Zehendner Wadley. He was married on June 22, 1963, in Jefferson City, Mo., to Ruth Adkins. A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Robert attended Jefferson City High School. He served in the United States Navy during World War II in the South Pacific on the USS Windham Bay Aircraft Carrier. Robert was employed as a brick layer in the construction industry for many years on many commercial and residential buildings including Jefferson City High School, Central Dairy, and Central Bank and was a 65 year member of Brick Layers Local 15. He was a member of the Jehovah's Witness. Robert enjoyed gardening and working around his home. Survivors include: his wife of 48 years, Ruth Wadley; one daughter, Elaina Heislen and her husband Kevin of Jefferson City, Mo.; one sister, Anne McDaniel of Jefferson City, Mo.; one grandson, Forrest Wadley of New Bloomfield, Mo.; and one niece and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Forest Wadley. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 14, 2011. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 15, 2011, in the Freeman Chapel with the Mr. Gary Carey officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Worldwide Bible Education Fund with Jehovah's Witness or the P.T.O. at the Kenneth Kirchner State School.
