Guy Henage (Veteran)

Guy Frazier Henage, 89, of North Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2011, peacefully at the VA Hospital. Guy Henage was born October 21, 1921, in Fulton, the eighth of 11 children to Frazier Scott Henage and Hallie Dial Turley. Guy was the last surviving sibling. Charles Frazier Henage of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, his son from an earlier marriage to Gloria J. DeRose, was with him at the time of his death. Guy is survived by five grandchildren and four great- grandchildren in North Carolina, who knew and loved him as "Pop-Pop". Inspired by barnstormers during the Great Depression, Guy grew up determined to become a flier. He remained active in many organizations including the Order of the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Daedalians, Quiet Birdmen, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and American Legion. He was also active in the community, a member of the Moose Lodge, and long time member of the Arkansas Aero Club. He regularly attended services at the North Little Rock Air Base Chapel since 1972. Guy Henage enjoyed the game of golf and after a lifetime of playing all over the world, managed to hit a hole in one at Pine Valley in 2008. A Memorial Service was held Friday, October 7, at Roller Owens Funeral Home, 5509 JFK Blvd., North Little Rock, Ark. (501-791-7400). Interment with full military honors was in the Little Rock National Cemetery. Guy was buried next to Constance Baranski Henage (Connie), his wife of 49 years. Both Guy and Connie were veterans of World War II. Guy flew combat missions in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, and served 35 years in the Air Force and Army Air Corps.
