Ronald Engelbrecht (Veteran)

Ronald L. Engelbrecht, 70, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2011, in the comfort of his home. He was born November 5, 1940, in Jefferson City, the son of the late Clarence and Ruth (Moreland) Engelbrecht. He was united in marriage on December 14, 1968, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Honey Creek, to Judy K. Jensen, who survives at their home. Ronald attended Immanuel Lutheran School in Honey Creek and was a graduate of Cole County R-5 High School in Eugene. He served in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. Ronald worked for Sprint, retiring after 30 years of service. He was a lifetime farmer, and owned and operated Engelbrecht Farms and Beef Processing, and was a certified outboard motor mechanic. He was member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Honey Creek, the American Legion Post 5, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 257, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2693. Ronald enjoyed traveling, especially the Caribbean Cruises and the Hawaii trips. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman. He loved spending time and cooking for his family. Along with his wife Judy, he is survived by two daughters, Darla M. Herigon of Jefferson City and Stacy L. Engelbrecht and fiancÈ Tommy Hill of Jefferson City; and one granddaughter, Lindsey Herigon of Jefferson City. He was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Roger Herigon. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Honey Creek. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Honey Creek, with Rev. Jeffrey Schanbacher officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery.
