Urban Otto (Veteran)

Urban Fred Otto, age 82, of Argyle, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2011, in the Missouri Veterans Home, St. James. Mr. Otto had been in failing health for some time. He was born August 30, 1928, a son of Leo Joseph and Elizabeth (Holterman) Otto. Mr. Otto was united in marriage on August 11, 1951, at Argyle, to the former Miss Margaret Mary Bauer, and to this union eight children were born. He was a member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Koeltztown. Mr. Otto was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Argyle Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8045. Through the years he had been a dedicated blood donor and had donated 19 gallons of blood. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Otto had been employed by the MFA Co-Operative, Argyle, for 25 years, was a school bus driver for 14 years for both Fatima Schools, Westphalia, and St. Peters Schools, Jefferson City, as well as being a farmer in Osage County. Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Otto include his wife: Margie Otto of the home in rural Argyle; five sons: Joe Otto and friend Nyla Cartmell, and John Otto and friend, Stephanie Wingate, all of Jefferson City, James and Kathy Otto, Jerome and Denice Otto and Jeffrey and Michel Otto, all of Argyle; three daughters: Venny and Jerry Groene, Koeltztown, Linda and Don Hall, Wichita, Kansas, and Denise and Ron Spencer, Lincoln, Nebraska; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Sister Angela Marie SSND. A Memorial Mass will be conducted for Mr. Otto at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 11, 2011, in the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Koeltztown, with Rev. Msgr. Marion J. Makarewicz celebrating. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m., Thursday, March 10, 2011, and 9-10 a.m., Friday, March 11, 2011, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, all in the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Koeltztown.
