Brenda Pearl Corrigan, 61, of Jefferson City, passed away Friday, July 29, 2011, at St. Mary's Health Center. She was born March 16, 1950, in Jefferson City, Missouri, a daughter of the late Earl and Wonetta (South) Vahrenberg. She was a 1968 graduate of Chamois High School in Chamois, Missouri, and went on to earn her Nursing Degree in 1970 at Nichols Career Center in Jefferson City, Missouri. On September 16, 1978, Brenda was united in marriage in Jefferson City, to Daniel L. "Danny" Corrigan, who survives at their home. Brenda worked as a Surgical Nurse at Memorial Hospital for 20 years, and was currently a Patient Accounts Representative at St. Mary's Health Center. She was a member of Central United Church of Christ. Brenda was the matriarch of her family, whose home and heart was always open to all. Brenda loved entertaining people, baking, cooking, and reading. She was a very strong, dedicated woman that had a great sense of humor. Brenda had a very deep faith, and was the most non-judgmental person and never spoke a bad word about anyone. She had much wisdom and gave her best advice when asked. She had a heart of gold, and was lovingly called "The Pearl of My Life" by her husband Danny. Brenda had a special little boy, Chavez Loaiza, who she adored like a grandson. Along with her husband Danny, Brenda is also survived by two daughters: Julie Phelps (husband Jarod) of Jefferson City, and Ashley Corrigan (fiancÈ Peter Loaiza) of Holts Summit; one sister: Peggy Vahrenberg (partner Elizabeth Roman) of Jefferson City; and her first grandchild on the way. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 2, 2011, at the Central United Church of Christ, with Dr. Stephen H. Buchholz officiating. Entombment will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Central United Church of Christ or the American Cancer Society.
