David H. Robertson, 90, of Jefferson City, died Friday, June 3, 2011, at Heisinger Bluffs Nursing Home. He was born April 2, 1921, in Moberly, a son of David H. and Catherine (Cadogan) Robertson. On December 6, 1942, he was married in St. Louis, to Nora Aileen (Nan) McClure, who survives in Jefferson City. He served in the United States Army from November 1940 until his retirement in June 1965, rising through the ranks from Corporal to Lieutenant Colonel (Regular Army). Colonel Robertson fought in World War II with the 979th Field Artillery, attached to the XIX Corps in Europe; and with the 78th AAA Gun Battalion and the 503rd Field Artillery in Korea. Service medals and decorations include the Silver Star Medal, two Bronze Star Medals, the Army Commendation Medal, and two Korean Distinguished Unit Citations. After retiring from the Army he worked various types of jobs, including state government, research and software services. He is survived by two daughters, Carol Robertson of Jefferson City and Elizabeth Woodfield of Irvine, Calif.; one son, John Robertson of Iowa City, Iowa; three granddaughters, Andre Mallinger of Rollinsville, Colo., Sarah Woodfield of Houston, Texas, and Katherine Woodfield of Irvine, Calif.; and one grandson, David Robertson of Iowa City, Iowa. A memorial service with full military honors will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 9 at The Columbarium, Riverview Cemetery, 2600 West Main Street, Jefferson City.
