Esther Creed

Esther Joan Creed, age 85, of Moberly, died Thursday, January 20, 2011, in Columbia. Esther was born March 7, 1925, in Otis, Colo., the daughter of Henry H. DeVries and Anna Ethel Cantrell. She married Merle Dean Creed on December 5, 1946, in Springfield. Mrs. Creed was employed as a social worker and was the head of the Randolph County office. She was a past president of Altrusa Club and a member of the Moberly Thrift FCE Club since 1987. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Elizabeth Creed of Peculiar; one brother, Earl Joseph and his wife Georgia DeVries of Blue Springs; one sister, Emily Lucille Lawson of Moberly; four step-grandsons, 11 step-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Esther was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers, Orville Ray DeVries and Henry Chester DeVries; and one sister, Ethel Alberta Shute. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with visitation prior to the service at 12:00 p.m. Interment will be Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. in the IOOF Cemetery in Mt.
