James D. Gretlein, 75, of Warrensburg, died Thursday, December 30, 2010, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence. He was born November 7, 1935, the son of Henry G. and Allene J. (Schubert) Gretlein, in Jefferson City. Don affectionately known as "Doc" by friends, attended Trinity Lutheran grade school. He was baptized and confirmed and attended Jefferson City High School. On December 10, 1955, he was united in marriage to Dorothy G. Gentry in Jefferson City. Mr. Gretlein retired from the Certain Teed Saint - Gobain Company as a line foreman after 40 years. James D. Gretlein is survived by his wife, Dorothy Gail of the home; two daughters, Dara D. Yeager and Tana L. Monroe; one brother, Gary L. Gretlein; two sisters, Arleta Hildebrand and Berniece Barker; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, H.G. Gretlein Jr.; one sister, Ruby Tremaine; two brothers-in-law, Otto Hildebrand and Otto Barker and one sister-in-law, Linda L. Gretlein, all of Jefferson City. The family held a private memorial service in Warrensburg.
