Dorsey Franklin Robertson, age 82, of Russellville, died Friday, January 7, 2011, at the University Hospital in Columbia. He was born December 29, 1928, in Russellville, a son of Charley Jasper and Pearl James Robertson. On July 9, 1951, at Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Dorsey was united in marriage to Rosemary Glenn, who survives at their home. He was a 1946 graduate of Russellville High School. In 1949, Dorsey went to work for the Missouri Highway Department for a year before going to the Army, where he served his country in the Korean War. After his discharge, he returned home and rented property to farm until 1962, when he purchased a 500-acre farm west of Russellville, where he farmed and raised cattle until his unexpected death. From 1965 to 1972, Dorsey drove the gas truck and was employed as Bulk Plant Manager for M.F.A. Oil, Co. He later retired as manager of the M.F.A. Exchange in Russellville. He was a Certified Angus Breeder, served on the M.F.A. Board of Directors and as President of the M.F.A. Exchange Board. He was an active and faithful member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church near Russellville, serving as an Adult Sunday School teacher for 36 years. He was also Chairman of the Deacons and in charge of Benevolence for the church. He was an avid sports fan and an outstanding basketball player. Dorsey's hobby was working on his farm, whether it was feeding his cattle, cutting wood or tending to his garden, so he could share its bounty with friends and neighbors. However, his greatest enjoyment came from being with his family. In addition to his wife of 59 1/2 years, he is survived by four children, Douglas Glenn Robertson of Brainerd, Minnesota, Debra Ann Latshaw and husband Greg of Oak Grove, Donna Pearl Porter and husband Tony of Jefferson City, and Duane Franklin Robertson of Russellville; three sisters, Hazel Harper of Pacific Grove, California, Mary Clippard of Imperial, and Nancy Fox of Medford, Oregon; 12 grandchildren, Josh Robertson and wife Nikki, Casey Bostic-Jones and husband Mike, Michael, Christy, Austin, Jonathan, Ryan and Reagan Latshaw, and Ethan, Evan, Wyatt and Weston Porter; one great-granddaughter, Mariah, and twin great-grandchildren who are due February 22; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and eight siblings, Eula Mae Mace, Paul Robertson, Clyde Robertson, Ruby Jones, Charles Robertson, Ralph Robertson, Jasper Robertson, and Lee Roy Robertson. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 10, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Rev. Alan Earls officiating. Interment, with military funeral honors, will be in the Enloe Cemetery west of Russellville. The family will receive friends from 2:00-6:00 p.m., Sunday, January 9, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Russellville. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Van Fund. www.scrivner-morrow.com
