Joe Harwood (Veteran)

Joe Don "Donnie" Harwood, 53, formerly of Augusta, passed away Friday, February 4, 2011, at the Riverview Nursing Center in Mokane. He was born January 19, 1958, in St. Charles, a son of Charles Wesley and Pauline (Amick) Harwood. He was a 1976 graduate of Washington High School in Washington. Joe Don served in the United States Marine Corps from 1976 through 1982, and obtained the rank of Corporal. Joe Don was a member of the United Church of Christ in Augusta, and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He is survived by his mother, Pauline Harwood of Henley; one sister, Jane (Lloyd) Sommerer of Henley; three brothers, Charles (Lorraine) Harwood of Ventura, Calif., Robert (Susie) Harwood of Miami, Fla., Jim Harwood of Henley; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Wesley Harwood Sr. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 10, 2011, with services and full military honors immediately following at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Private family interment will be held Friday at the East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Mexico. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
