Lee Maupin, 72, of Columbia, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2011, following a long battle with multiple myeloma. Lee was born on September 21, 1939, in Indianapolis, Ind., to Walter and Marguerite (Tapley) Maupin. He was married to Martha Hoskins in Auxvasse, Mo., on August 20, 1966, by the Rev. Jake Stiddham. He graduated from Hannibal High School in 1957, and then from University of Missouri with a Bacholars in History and Economics and a Masters degree in History and Economics and worked toward his PhD. Lee is survived by his wife, Martha of Columbia; two sons, John Maupin and his wife, Christie of Springfield, Mo. and Andrew Maupin and his wife, Julie of North Kansas City (Liberty) Mo.; five grandchildren, Kennedy and Lilley of Springfield, Elizabeth, Jay and Lila of Kansas City; one sister, Donna Sue McMickle and her husband, John of Columbia; and many cousins on both sides of the family, residing world-wide. Lee was preceded in death by his parents, his father and mother-in-law and one sister-in-law. Visitation will be held Friday, December 23, 2011, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia, Mo. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 23, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Klinger-Cope Cemetery in Springfield, Mo. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Childrenís Research Hospital; First Christian Church in Jefferson City, Mo. or charity of your choice.
