Vera Jane Kaup

Vera Jane McGrail Kaup, 57, of Marionville, passed away Monday, December 12, 2011, in Crane. She was born September 1, 1954, to Charles and Mary Ann McGrail. At age eight, Vera and her parents moved from Corpus Christi, Texas, to Jefferson City. Vera graduated from Jefferson City High School in 1972. After high school Vera worked for the Missouri Department of Revenue as a clerk until 1983. On August 27, 1977, Vera and Michael Kaup were joined in marriage at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jefferson City. In 1980, one daughter, Heather Marie, was born. In 1983, the family moved back to the Crane area, where her husband, Michael was born and raised, and has resided there since. Vera was a homemaker and worked part time for over 12 years as Secretary for First Methodist Church of Marionville up until her illness in March of 2011, forced her to enter Cox Hospital, as a patient, in Springfield. After a partial recovery Vera was moved to Select Specialty Hospital for rehabilitation and finally to the Ozark Mountain Regional Healthcare in Crane to continue her short lived recovery. She is survived by her husband, Michael; and daughter, Heather, both of the Crane area. She is also survived by her mother, Mary Ann; two sisters, Marilue Hemmel and Lee Ann Braun; three brothers, Tim, Joe and Matt, all of Jefferson City; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends in the area. A memorial service for Vera will be held on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Marionville. Cremation services were provided by Westrip Funeral Home, Crane. In lieu of flower the family has requested that memorial contributions be directed to Regional Hospice as a thank you for their assistance to Vera in her final days on this earth.
