Nicholas McCullough

Nicholas P. "Nick" McCullough, age 27 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Sunday, December 11, 2011, at the Capital Region Medical Center, surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer. Nick was born August 18, 1984, in Jefferson City, Mo., the son of Richard K. "Mo" and Susan K. Schell McCullough. A lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, Nick was a 2003 graduate of Jefferson City High School, and a 2007 graduate of the University of Missouri at Columbia with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. Currently, he was two courses from a MBA at Lincoln University. Nick also attended the University of Bergamo in Bergamo, Italy in 2006. Nick was a member of the Alpha Kappa Lamba Fraternity at the University of Missouri. He was chairman of Greek Week and represented his fraternity on the Greek Council while at Mizzou. He received the Heart of a Hero Award from the American Red Cross for saving a child's life as a life guard at Memorial Pool in 2005. Nick was an avid sports fan supporting the St. Louis Cardinals and the Missouri Tigers. He enjoyed traveling and hanging out with his dog, Rocky. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include: his parents, Mo and Susan McCullough; one brother, Christopher McCullough and his wife Elizabeth of Columbia, Mo.; one niece, Madilyn McCullough; his maternal grandmother, Sarah Schell of Dallas, Texas; aunts and uncle, Scott and Dorothy McCullough of Jefferson City, Mo., and Sharon and Bruce Coad of Dallas, Texas; his great-aunt and uncle, Bob and Lou Fitzpatrick of Jefferson City, Mo.; and three cousins, Erin Kenny, Lynn McCullough, and Richard McCullough. A Celebration of Nick's Life will be conducted at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at the First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Daniel Hilty officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Nick McCullough Scholarship Fund for Cancer Survivors.
