Mr. Michael Roger Louis Evers, age 68 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Friday, August 26, 2011, at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans' Hospital in Columbia, Mo. Roger was born on September 29, 1942, in Jefferson City, Mo., a son of Louis S. and Esta V. Hendricks Evers. A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Roger was a 1960 graduate of Helias High School. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1964 until he was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1968. After his service to the Marine Corps, Roger was employed for 35 years as a Book Binder with Von Hoffmann Press until his retirement in 2003. He was a past member of the Samuel F. Gearhart Detachment of the Marine Corps League in Jefferson City, Mo. Survivors include: two sons, Robert G. Evers of Farmington, Mo. and Ronald L. Evers of Linn, Mo.; one brother, Jim E. Evers and his wife Susan of Holts Summit, Mo.; two sisters, Norma J. Duncan of Jefferson City, Mo. and Agnes C. Powell of Holts Summit, Mo.; one granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Steven Evers; and one brother, Clarence Evers. A visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 30, 2011. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 30, 2011, in the Freeman Chapel with Deacon Jim Browner officiating. Graveside services and interment with military honors will be held at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Helias Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
