John Adolph Ehrhardt, 84, of Honey Creek, died Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach. He was born August 13, 1927, in the family home in the Honey Creek Community, a son of Theodore Julius and Dorothea Katherine (Sommerer) Ehrhardt. He attended Immanuel Lutheran School, Honey Creek, and was a 1945 graduate of Eugene High School. John served in the United States Navy during World War II as a Fireman First Class on the USS Marlboro and USS Donner. He was a lifelong farmer on the family Century Farm in the Honey Creek Community and had worked for Roark Aluminum in Jefferson City for several years. He was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Honey Creek, where he served as Usher and past Congregational Treasurer. He bowled the LLL Bowling League at Westgate Lanes for many years. John is survived by one sister, Pearl Margaret Carrender of Jefferson City, and one sister-in-law, Virginia Ehrhardt of Jefferson City. He is also survived by eight nieces and nephews, numerous great nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, one great-great-great niece and several cousins. He was preceded in death by one brother, Herbert Louis Ehrhardt; two sisters, Viola Tichelkamp and Norma Ziegler; and three brothers-in-law, Otto Tichelkamp, Everett Ziegler and Warren Carrender. Friends will be received from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 27, 2011, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, where Christian services will follow at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Jeffrey A. Schanbacher officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in the church cemetery.
