Edith Jeffries

Edith A. Jeffries, age 75, of Henley, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2011, at her daughters residence in Jefferson City. She peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday. Edith was born on January 13, 1936, in Schˆnlanke, Germany, the daughter of the late Bruno and Gertrud (Zilse) Neumann. She was united in marriage to William Joe Jeffries in Fort Benning, Georgia on April 2, 1964. He preceded her in death on March 27, 1992. Edith and her husband owned and operated Bill's Mobil Service in Eugene, Edith's CafÈ in Hickory Hill and Edith's Family Restaurant in Brazito. She also worked for many years at the Lake Ozark Children's Home. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Jefferson City. Survivors include: one daughter, JoAnn Looten and her husband Franklin of Jefferson City; two sons, William Jeffries Jr. of Henley and Clinton Jeffries and wife Brigette of Eldon; her husband's son, Dan Aust and wife Molly of Columbia; 10 grandchildren, Jonathon, David, Mathew and Aaron Looten, Savannah, Ashlynn, Brittney, Clinton and Olivia Jeffries and Nathan Nall; four great-grandchildren, Adison Mayo, Dallas Christiansen, Brooke Taylor and Daniel Wolfmeier and one sister, Erna Strahmann of Schwarmstedt, Germany. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one great- granddaughter, Jasmine Looten; two brothers, Rudi and Bruno Neumann; one sister, Brunhilda Brown and her step-father, Otto Kraft. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 28, at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 7804 Heritage Highway, Jefferson City. Rev. Bill Rogers will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Jefferson City. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
