Ken Vandeloecht

Ken Vandeloecht, 72, of Hallsville, died Thursday, April 21, 2011, after a brief but valiant battle with cancer. Ken was born August 12, 1938, to Russell and Leota Payne Vandeloecht in rural Steedman, Mo. With a gift as rare as it was real, Ken sang his way from the lakes of Minnesota to the hills of Tennessee and all across this great land he so loved. He lived life his way and what you saw was what you got. He loved his audiences and they loved him right back. He treasured the many friendships he made on his journey and he was a treasured friend. Ken was happiest at home, taking care of the little piece of heaven he carved out of the woods. In retirement he stayed busy moving cars for University Chrysler. Ken is survived by Sue, his wife of 38 years; Scott and Kristi, his beloved son and daughter-in-law; Helen Snodgrass, his sister; Vernon (Jane) Vandeloecht, his brother; Glenda Vandeloecht, his sister-in-law and countless nieces and nephews who loved and were loved by their Uncle Froggie. Young Livi, Anna and Grace stole his heart. He was preceded in death by his parents; a young daughter, Tammy; a brother, Walter Vandeloecht and a sister, Dottie Wheeler. The family would like to thank the teams headed by Dr. Wakefield, Dr. Faizer and Dr. Nichol for their heroic efforts to heal Ken; the SICU staff was especially kind to the family. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2011, at Hallsville United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at the church, casual dress please. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity or The Wounded Warriors Project. Online condolences may be left at parkerfuneralservice.com
