Gary Alvin Spurling, 55, of Springfield, died Thursday, April 21, 2011. He was born March 14, 1956 in Belle. He was a graduate of Belle High School and attended Bible Baptist College in Springfield. Gary was a Fundamental Baptist Minister, pasturing churches in Walnut Grove and Thomasville. He also owned and operated Gary's Carpet Cleaning in Springfield. He enjoyed working in his yard, fishing, pitching horseshoes and entertaining children as a clown. He is survived by two daughters: Tina Findley and husband Stacey of Fair Grove and Tonia Allard and husband Daniel of Ligonier, Ind.; eight grandchildren: Landon Findley, Leah Findley, Alana Findley, Allison Findley, Mariah Allard, Jewel Allard, Titus Allard, and Rayla Allard; three sisters: Alvina Dittman of Belle, Belinda Branson and husband Delmar of Belle, and Eugenia Frey and husband Roger of Owensville; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great- nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Spurling; mother, Maxine (Moreland) Horseman; and sister, Vivia Russell. Friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with John Ellis officiating.
