Rodney Leroy Burton

Rodney Leroy Burton, age 60, of Spanish Fork, Utah, passed away Monday, April 11, 2011, peacefully at his home from complications of Parkinson's Disease. Rodney was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. Rodney was born May 5, 1950, in Moberly, to Junior Lee Burton and Gladys Irene Pugh. Rodney graduated from Jefferson City High School in 1969. He married Judy Ann Heard on June 9, 1973, in Jefferson City. They were later sealed in the Oakland LDS Temple. He was employed with Butternut Bread Company until illness forced his retirement in 1988. In 1991, he and Judy moved their family to Utah where they have resided for 20 years. Rodney loved spending time with his children and seven grandchildren whom he loved with all his heart. He enjoyed fishing and he loved to tinker with cars. He had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone in need. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Survivors include: his wife, Judy of Spanish Fork, Utah; one daughter, Melissa Burton of Spanish Fork, Utah; three sons, Jonathan Burton (Mandie) of Westminster, Colo., Ryan Burton (Anna) of Saratoga Springs, Utah, and Andrew Burton of Salt Lake City, Utah; seven grandchildren, Alayna, Gunner, Jaxon, Hayden, Tucker, Ashlyn and Henry; and one brother, Rick Burton (Barbara) of Charles City, Iowa. Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, Junior Burton and Gladys Spratley; a brother, Stanley Burton; and an infant son, Jason Burton. Services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4618 Henwick Lane, Jefferson City. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Hawthorne Memorial Gardens in Jefferson City. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Robinson Funeral Home, Ashland.
