Barbara S. McBaine, age 68 years, Jefferson City, passed away Monday, November 15, 2010. Barbara was born on November 21, 1941, in Jefferson City, a daughter of Louis and Leona (Hentges) Mertens, who preceded her in death. She was married to James R. Williams on January 16, 1961, in Florida, and he preceded her in death on April 19, 1969. She was married to Franklin E. McBaine on July 20, 1974, in Jefferson City, who preceded her in death on August 18, 2008. A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Barbara was a 1959 graduate of Helias High School. She was employed as an in- home child care provider for 15 years, retiring in 1991. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, the VFW Roy Sone Post 1003 Ladies Auxiliary, and the Eastside Cancer Kickers Relay for Life team. Barbara enjoyed sewing, crafts, woodworking, traveling, and gardening. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include: four sons, Mike (Debbie) McBaine and Mark (Alice) McBaine Jefferson City, Boyd (Jody) Williams, Rolla, and Bill Williams, Columbia; five daughters, Tresha McBaine, Cathy Philbert, and Kelly (Jack) Raetz, Jefferson City, Rose (Doug) Marsch, Russellville, and Alice (Keith) Languell, Tebbetts. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, four brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 18, 2010, with a prayer service to be conducted at 3:30 p.m. in the Freeman Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 19, 2010, in the Freeman Chapel with Monsignor David Cox officiating. Interment will be at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society through the Eastside Cancer Kickers or Fisher Family Relay for Life teams or Hospice Compassus of Jefferson City.
