Mrs. Lecil Simmons

Mrs. Lecil C. Simmons, age 89 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Friday, May 28, 2010, at the Capital Region Medical Center. Lecil was born April 10, 1921, in Wilson, Ark., the daughter of Luther and Sophie Thompkins Harris. She was married to Maceo A. Simmons, who preceded her in death on December 25, 1974. She was employed as a Dormitory Director with Lincoln University for over 20 years until her retirement in 1986. She was a member of Quinn Chapel, A.M.E. in Jefferson City. Survivors include: her son, Leonard Simmons of Jefferson City, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one son, Lawrence Simmons. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 3, 2010, at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to charity of their choice.
