Lucas Shane Blankenship, 28, of Jefferson City, died Friday, March 12, 2010, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia. He was born May 1, 1981, in Lebanon, Missouri. He was a 2000 graduate of Jefferson City High School. Lucas worked for Culver's Restaurant in Jefferson City, and had also worked for Quality Dry Wall and other local construction companies. He was a member of Fountain of Life Family Worship Center. Lucas enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading, political discussions, and was the family mechanic. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his five year old son, Shane. On June 25, 2008, Lucas was united in marriage in Jefferson City to Glenda Veit, who survives at their home. Other survivors include his mother and stepfather, Bonita and Ray Hall of Fulton; his father, Stanley Blankenship of Lebanon; four children, Autumn Kempker, Kylie Coppen, Shane Blankenship and Gavin Coppen; two stepsons, Bernard Hoffman Jr. and Dewight Hoffman; one brother, Stanley Blankenship and wife Laura of Holts Summit; and two sisters, Kristen Schroeder and husband Douglas of Jefferson City, and Barbara Blankenship of Holts Summit. Friends will be received from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 19, 2010, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home with Pastor Marcus Sage officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Margaret's Catholic Church Cemetery in Osage Bend. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Lucas Blankenship family.
