E. Laverne Shull

E. Laverne Baker Shull, 79, of California, Mo., passed away on Friday, March 12, 2010, at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City, Mo. She was born November 30, 1930, near Morrison, Mo. to Timothy and Rebecca (Pointer) Baker, both of whom preceded her in death. She was married in Hermann, Mo., on July 28, 1947, to Morris Shull, who preceded her in death. She worked for J.C. Penney and F.W. Woolworth in Jefferson City, and Carps Department Store in California. She later worked for California Manufacturing Company as a supervisor, retiring in 1993, after 30 years with the company. She was a well known genealogist, and was a member of Mercy Lucas Wood Chapter of the Daughters of the American Colonists, and the Niangua Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a historian for the Branson Family, of which she was a double descendant. She was a member of the Maries County, Osage County and Moniteau County Historical Societies, where she was a volunteer. She was a member of the Salem Baptist Church. She is survived by one nephew, Roy N. Baker and wife Charlotte of California, Mo.; four great-nephews, Timothy D. Baker and wife Carol of California, Mo., Roy Keith Baker and wife Nancy of Columbia, Mo., Daryl Baker of Arlington, Texas, Thomas P. Baker and wife Dana of Loose Creek, Mo.; four great-great-nephews, Patrick, Daniel, Jonathan and Darrin Baker; one great-great-niece, Amy Marie McClanan and husband Clay; two great-great-great-nephews, Jordan and Kevin Baker; two great-nieces, Pamela Volkart Strecker of Potosi, Mo., and Sharon Volkart Unbdenstock and husband Frank of Festus, Mo. She was preceded in death by one sister, Reta Grace; one brother, George Nelson; and one nephew, E. Edward Volkart. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 15, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services in California, Mo. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery near Jamestown, Mo. Officiating will be Rev. Roy Barnard. Visitation will be on Monday, March 15, 2010, from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
