Mrs. Gertrude C. "Trudy" Hanauer, age 91 years, of Ashland, Mo., died Monday, June 21, 2010, at the Ashland Health Care Center. Trudy was born May 18, 1919, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Leroy A. and Viola F. Grace Castor. She was married on September 12, 1942, in Jacksonville, Florida to Edward T. Hanauer who preceded her in death on July 24, 2002. A resident of the Jefferson City area for the past 40 years, Trudy graduated from East High School in Kansas City, Mo. A homemaker, she had been employed as a waitress at Ramada Inn and as a corrections officer with the Missouri Dept. of Corrections . Trudy enjoyed crappie fishing and listening to music. She had a wonderful sense of humor. Survivors include: two sons, Ed T. Hanauer and his wife Paula of California, Mo. and Mike Hanauer and his wife Sandy of Ashland, Mo.; one daughter, Patty M. Kempker and her husband Roger of Jefferson City, Mo.; six grandchildren, Mike Kempker and his wife Amanda, Michelle Fischer and her husband Curtis, John Joseph Hanauer and his wife Kendra, Tammy Kilmer and her husband Justin, Eddie Hanauer IV, and P.J. Hanauer; three great-grandchildren, Morgan Mueller, Martin Kilmer, and Hayden Kilmer. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, and one son, John Joseph Hanauer. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Wednesday. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, 2010, in the Freeman Chapel. Interment will be at the Centertown Cemetery. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
